Health inequalities related to obesity and cancer among Latinos in low-resource communities require interventions with a community-engaged approach.

Barbara Baquero is an assistant professor in the Department of Community and Behavioral Health in the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa. Her research focuses on reducing and eliminating health disparities for Latino immigrants in the U.S. through identifying, understanding, implementing and evaluating interventions that incorporate social, cultural and structural factors associated with obesity and chronic disease prevention and control.
