We found a link between women with higher levels of butyl paraben and birth outcomes such as shorter gestational age at birth, decreased birth weight, and increased odds of preterm birth.
Dr. Laura Geer is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at SUNY Downstate Medical Center School of Public Health. Her research incorporates methods such as use of biological markers of exposure and epidemiologic investigation of exposure and associated outcomes. Her current research interests include the assessment of maternal attitudes towards prenatal and perinatal education and outreach, with a focus on mobile health strategies.
