System Center Rollout


os-upgradeSignificant progress has been made over the last few months to implement Microsoft Systems Center (for Windows) and Casper (for Macs). System Center is now automating the delivery of patches and updates to more than 1,000 campus computers. Additional benefits planned over the next semester include remote trouble-shooting, an app store, and an IT service catalog.

Lehman’s New Media Repository


yujaA new media platform was introduced this fall based on the recommendation of a review committee. The Yuja Active Learning Platform will serve as our new video repository and enable lecture capture, video analytics and more. Faculty can sign-on with Lehman One Access to organize media and share content. See the workshop calendar or contact IT for a personalized tour.

Automation: iDeclare and Key Requests


ideclareTwo new processes have been automated to enhance efficiencies and improve approval workflows. IT worked at the request of the Division of Finance and Administration to automate the process of requesting keys for College facilities.  Working the Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Divisions, we have also piloted an automated Declaration of Major request form for undergraduate students. Launching the 2017 Tech Fee Process


wirelessThe Technology Fee process for identifying and prioritizing Lehman’s technology proposals for the 2017-2018 academic year will soon begin. Look for an email requesting proposals. Content Locker: File Share and Management Tool


content-lockerThe IT Division is pleased to announce a seamless and secure way for Lehman faculty, researchers and staff to access and share critical documents and files. Content Locker is a self-service document management system, allowing users to upload and manage their own content. Mobile access is also available for iOS and Android and the application allows users to synchronize their and folders from any device. Additionally, all files and folders are secure and encrypted. Content Locker is a great way for department to share and manage documents and material. For more information or request this new service, contact the Help Desk at help.desk@lehman.cuny.edu.

IT Moves/Changes


ITRWe are pleased to announce that Jerry Barnard has assumed responsibility for managing our Academic IT Center and Help Desk, a critical resource for the College community. Jerry can be reached at ext. 1111 or via email. Congratulations to Dr. Joe Medved, who is taking on a new assignment to work with IT and the college community to direct the college’s new application security program. Best wishes to Brian Ribeiro and his wife Jenny on the birth of their daughter, Katherine Elizabeth. Congratulations, as well, to Angie Martinez, who has taken on enhanced responsibilities assisting Edi Ruiz, Assistant Vice President for Information Technology.

IT Road Map


IT-StrategicPlanThe latest IT Road Map is now available on Lehman Connect. It includes highlights on IT’s mission, vision and strategy with updates on 2016/17 initiatives. Ongoing projects include working with Academic Affairs on an updated, user-friendly Course Catalog, enhancing Digital Measures to include faculty bios, and implementing a more powerful web content management system.  We are engaged with Schools and departments to support exciting new tech-enabled learning platforms, improving information available to students, streamlining processes, and much more.

The IT Division is driven by a dedicated staff and the principles of transparency, accountability, and service.  We are proud to be one of the few IT units to post key IT service metrics for our stakeholders. Find out more here.

Home Page Redesign


hp-redesignThe IT Division is excited to announce a draft update of the Lehman website homepage. Here is an advance preview of the re-design.  You will find that the new design reflects the familiar navigation of our current home page with a cleaner, more contemporary look. Design goals for the proposed home page include:

* A more visually engaging, less cluttered “flat” design with new roll-over menus. Flat design emphasizes usability with clean, open space, crisp edges, and two-dimensional graphics.
* A responsive design, where web pages are optimized for mobile devices, reflecting that more visitors are reaching the Lehman website using smart phones and tablets.

The new home page was designed in-house under the leadership of David Stevens, our Web Services Manager, and Rasun Williams, our Web Developer. We appreciate the input that came from students, faculty and staff from across the campus, including the Senate Library, Technology and Telecommunications Committee.

Technology Fee 2016/17

Lehman’s New Mobile App


mobile-appLehman Mobile Central allows students to find their current course schedules, grades and academic standing. Students, faculty, staff and visitors can access Lehman’s academic calendar, mobile library tools, phone directories, the campus map, campus life information, and more. The free mobile app is available at the App Store and on Google Play. The app is rated 4.7 (out of 5) on the Play Store – download it today!

Media Technology Online Reservations, TrackIT & IT Service Catalog


mtsFind this self-service equipment reservation tool through Lehman One Access. Simply log in to Lehman One Access and click on MTS Equipment Reservations to create, view or cancel equipment reservations, from video cameras to computer carts.

To ensure rapid resolution to user IT service requests, please use TrackIT, our self-service tool. This resource allows users to submit an IT service request online and check the status of submitted requests. To access the TrackIT Service Request portal, go to Lehman Connect.

In addition, our IT catalog of services is available online at the Lehman Connect IT site. You’ll find detailed information on the extensive portfolio of services offered by Information Technology.

Lehman One Access


Lehman-One-AccessA reminder for Lehman students, faculty and staff—Lehman One Access is available. This useful tool is a “password wallet” that facilitates single sign-on. It streamlines the login process to Blackboard, CUNYfirst, Lehman Connect and much more. You can also customize this resource to include personal social media sites, email, news feeds, etc.

IT Security – Protect Against Ransomware


email-phishingWe encourage the Lehman community to remain vigilant regarding the receipt of potentially malicious email. We are facing a new threat called Ransomware. Ransomware is a form of malware where an attacker encrypts or scrambles the victim’s data and demands payment for the decryption key. Ransomware spreads through e-mail attachments, infected programs and compromised websites.

If you are unsure of the authenticity of a link or an attachment, don’t click on it. Do not share any personal information, including passwords, with individuals or websites. If you have shared your password by accident, change it immediately by using the Lehman Password Manager, (go to ‘Login’ at the top of the Lehman home page). Lehman will never send a link asking you change your password or submit personal information. Microsoft Systems Center/Casper Implementation


sys-centerTo keep up with the pace of technology change and new security threats, the IT Division continues to develop tools that improve the ability to respond to the changing needs of student, faculty and staff. This includes improving the efficiency, manageability and security of the campus technology environment. Microsoft Systems Center (for Windows) and the Casper Suite (for Macs) facilitate the automation of repeatable tasks, such as inventory management and delivering Operating System and application patches and updates. More information will be provided as these new tools are implemented.

Introducing IT’s New Assistant Vice President


ruizPlease join us in welcoming Ediltrudys (Edi) Ruiz as Lehman’s new Assistant Vice President for Information Technology. Ms. Ruiz received her undergraduate and graduate degrees at CUNY and has worked at various CUNY colleges for more than 20 years, most recently as Chief Information Officer and AVP for Information Technology at Medgar Evers. At Lehman, Edi will support the day-to-day operations of the IT Division, enhance project coordination, and work across campus departments to maximize successful collaborations. She will bring an innovative, knowledgeable and well-rounded spirit of service to our campus, along with an in-depth understanding of CUNY and the students we serve. Ms. Ruiz started on September 21st.

Lehman Mobile Central


mobile-appThe Divisions of Student Affairs and Information Technology are pleased to announce the launch of Lehman’s mobile app, Lehman Mobile Central. This app is available as a free download at the App Store or on Google Play. Lehman Mobile Central will allow students to find their current course schedules, grades and academic standing. Users will also be able to access Lehman’s academic calendar, mobile library tools, phone directories, the campus map, Campus Life information and more. Wireless Upgrade in Carman and Gillet Hall


wireless-upgradeLehman’s wireless network just received a major infrastructure upgrade in Carman Hall and Gillet Hall due, in large part, to Tech Fee funding. As part of our roadmap to enhance the use of technology in teaching and learning, the IT Division has rolled out newer generation access points that support gigabit Wi-Fi. Students and faculty require faster and stable access to coursework, e-books, video and other digital tools that enrich the educational process. The enhanced network enables users to securely connect their wireless devices while allowing faculty to incorporate a wide range of educational technologies and enhanced collaboration tools into their classes. Every classroom in these two buildings now has a stronger Wi-Fi signal.

MTS Self Service Reservation System


mtsDo you need a video camera or computer cart for your class? We are thrilled to introduce the new Media Technology Services online reservation system. Find this tool through the Lehman One Access portal—simply log in to Lehman One Access and click on MTS Equipment Reservations to create, view or cancel equipment reservations. We’ll soon conduct brief workshops to introduce this new reservation system and help users navigate the process. We will also discuss how to use our Smartboard equipped, tech-enhanced classrooms.
