Network Security and Wireless Upgrades
19 May2017
The IT Division continues to upgrade the wireless and network infrastructure across the campus to meet the growing use of mobile devices. In the Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences department, IT installed wireless access points in ten classrooms and replaced older access points throughout the building to improve network coverage, device density, and speed. In Carman Hall, high bandwidth network cabling and advanced wireless access points have been installed for the new multi-modal classrooms (see story above). In addition, Shuster Hall has also seen wireless improvements. Finally, with the support of CUNY CIS, IT has implemented next generation firewalls to increase protection from malware threats. The new firewalls support faster network connections that increase Lehman’s bandwidth to the CUNY network to 10 Gigabits per second.
