Spring 2017 IT Staff Update


Information Technology: Deliver, Lead, InnovateAssistant Vice President Edi Ruiz has been accepted into the 2017 class of the Leading Change Institute (LCI). Sponsored by EDUCAUSE and the Council of Library and Information Resources (CLIR), LCI is a highly competitive program that brings together IT and library leaders from across the country to address the critical issues we face in higher education. Congratulations, Edi!

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Deira Pereyra as the new Director of IT Application Services. Deira, a graduate of Lehman College and Pace University (for her Master’s degree), began her career at the IBM Watson Research Center. Before joining Bronx Community College in 2010, Deira worked in a variety of application and web consulting roles. At BCC, she led a team of developers and data analysts that supported campus information services. At Lehman, Deira will support the day-to-day operations of the IT Application Services unit, and work to enhance the system development life cycle and project coordination. She will work with departments across campus to maximize successful collaborations and enhance student success. Deira joined us on Monday, May 8th. Welcome, Deira!

Congratulations to IT staff members Argelis Rosario, who will be graduating Lehman with a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Alexis Veras, who will be graduating Lehman with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

Kudos to IT staff members who recently received ITIL certification: Diane Morgante, Helton Harrison, Riffat Mitul, Maria Garcia, and Edwin Salazar.  ITIL refers to a widely-accepted set of IT practices used by organizations to manage consistent and reliable IT services. Congratulations also to Brian Ribeiro, who received his Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM ) certification.
