New Musical ‘Daniel in the Lions’ Den’ Opens at Lehman College May 12

Daniel in the Lions’ Den, a dramatic new musical composed by Professor Penny Prince of Lehman College’s Music Department, retells the biblical tale of oppression and faith with some new insights into immigration, incarceration, and staying true to one’s self. Performances will be held on Thursday, May 12, at 7 p.m. and Friday, May 13, at 11 a.m. in Room 306 of the Music Building.

The Bronx Library Center at Kingsbridge Road will host a special showing on Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. This event is free; however reservations are required. test

The cast of Lehman College students, alumni, and community members co-wrote the script in a collaborative process Dr. Prince has been pioneering at Lehman these past 11 years. Previous productions have included Rapunzel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, When I Get to Where I’m Going, and Rumpelstiltskin. The hour-long show is filled with songs, dances, and humorous as well as moving dialogue, suitable for all ages 5 and older.

Penny Prince is a 2015 winner of the Bronx Council on the Arts’ Bronx Recognizes its Own competition, and the Saturday performances at the Bronx Library Center fulfill the Public Service Presentation for BRIO.
