“Victory in Guatemala? Not Yet” Says Prof. Sanford in The New York Times

In an op-ed piece published in The New York  Times, Professor Victoria Sanford writes that although the recently concluded trial that found ex-Guatemalan dictator General Ríos Montt guilty of genocide is a historical victory for justice, there is much more work to be done. Prof. Sanford, the director of the Center of Human Rights and Peace Studies at Lehman College and a faculty member of the Anthropology department is an internationally recognized expert on the Guatemalan Genocide and the author of several books including Buried Secrets: Truth and Human Rights in Guatemala.
