Music Dept. to Present Brass Quintet, Music from South India April 18

The Department of Music will present two concerts on Thursday, April 18: the Lehman Brass Quintet at 11 a.m. and “Saxophones & Swaras” at 4 p.m. in the Music Building’s Recital Hall. Both events are free and open to the community.

The Brass Quintet performance will feature music from the Baroque period to the present. The group will perform works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Victor Ewald, Alec Wilder, Lew Pollack and others. Led by Professor Jack Hyatt, the Quintet includes two trumpets, French horn, trombone, and tuba.

“Saxophones & Swaras” will showcase music from or influenced by South India. The program will include classical music from that region, as well as works by Lehman Professor David Claman, and contemporary saxophone music by Alex Mincek and Gregory Wanamaker.
