The Community Band will celebrate the holiday season with “Home for the Holidays,” a free concert featuring a mix of holiday music and classics for wind band. This event, which is open to the public, will take place on Sunday, December 16, at 2 p.m. in the Lovinger Theatre.

Led by Prof. Alan Hollander (Music), the ensemble will perform a wide range of works, including classics for band such as Scenes from the Louvre by Norman Dello Joio, inspired by various galleries in the world-famous museum, and an exciting modern piece by Richard Saucedo, entitled Shooting Stars.

Pianist Ginger Lai will deliver a special performance of George Gershwin’s epic masterpiece Rhapsody in Blue. Rounding out the program will be holiday selections, including Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasis on Greensleeves, Richard Wernick’s Chanukah Festival Overture, and Leroy Anderson’s perennial favorites Christmas Festival and Sleigh Ride.
