In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, members of the Lehman community have been busy volunteering, cleaning up area parks and collecting goods for donations. The Office of Community Engagement and New Student Services has organized various programs that will allow members of the campus to continue to help New York and New Jersey residents affected by the hurricane.
On Wednesday afternoon, students and staff from the Office of Community Engagement sorted through donated items in preparation for delivery to an evacuation center in Staten Island. On Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 10-11), the group will conduct outreach operations in the Rockaways and Brooklyn. To sign up, visit Shuster Hall, Rm. 201B, or contact Amanda Dubois at email@example.com.
Donations will continue to be accepted through next week—on Monday, November 12, staff from the Office of Community Engagement will be stationed in the Shuster Hall lobby to accept donations and to give out treats to children from the Child Care Center who will be trick or treating across campus.
On Wednesday, November 14, the College will hold a fundraiser at its Second Annual Turkey Trot. Participants will meet at the South Field to run or walk. Registrants may elect to donate their entrance fees to New York City or New Jersey Habitat for Humanity.
