New Men's and Women's Tennis Coach Jerry Power

Alumnus Jerry Power has been named head coach of men’s and women’s tennis at Lehman. An educator in the New York City public schools for twenty-six years, Power has made a name for himself among local coaching circles as the varsity basketball and tennis coach at Salesian High School in New Rochelle.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jerry back to the Lehman College campus,” said Athletic Director Dr. Martin L. Zwiren.  “With over 25 years of teaching and coaching experience in the metropolitan area, the Lehman College men’s and women’s tennis programs are getting an individual who has a proven track record in developing students and student-athletes.  We look forward to watching the men’s and women’s teams grow and develop under Jerry’s coaching leadership.”

Power is an active participant in the New York Junior Tennis League, the largest tennis and education-based community organization in the United States. His own son ranked #43 on the East Coast by the United States Tennis Association.

A graduate of SUNY Cortland, Power earned his first master’s degree from the College of New Rochelle and a second master’s degree in education from Lehman. Power lives in Pelham, N.Y. with his wife and daughter.
