The Physics Department at Lehman College held a reception on May 4 to present its departmental awards and celebrate the accomplishments of graduating physics majors.

Nayra Lancuna received the Anbuj Mukerji Award for “showing promise on the basis of first-year physics courses.” She’s in the Macaulay Honors College at Lehman and plans to major in physics and mathematics.

Saaber Shoyeb won the 2012 Joseph A. Gillet Award for “being the most knowledgeable in general physics among physics majors in their senior year.” During the reception, Shoyeb made a presentation on “Fronts of spin burning and tunneling in molecular magnets.”

The event also featured student presentations from Richard Birrittella, Rau Carranza, and Anna Gura on research projects related to quantum interference.
