Latin Grammy Award-winner Juanes stopped by the Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music May 15 as part of the 2012 Latin Grammy in the Schools Program, which brings together current artists and aspiring artists and musicians.

During the visit, Juanes held a press conference in the President’s Dining Room and then met with students in the Recital Hall for an interview and Q&A. The Colombian-born musician began his career in 1988 when he formed the rock band Ekhymosis. He later separated from the group to launch his solo career in 2000 with the release of his first album Fijate Bien, which won three Latin Grammy Awards in 2001.

Launched in 2009, the Latin Grammy in the Schools Program is administered through the Latin Recording Academy and is part of the Latin Grammy Awards. Its aim is to bring today’s youth closer to their dreams with the influence of positive and inspirational role models.
