The Bronx Institute at Lehman College has been awarded one-year grants by the Edwin Gould Foundation and the Toyota USA Foundation for $50,000 and $134,500, respectively. The grants are for the Institute’s Engaging Latino Communities for Education (ENLACE) academic enrichment program, which serves high-performing Latino students from Bronx public schools.

“We are grateful to The Edwin Gould Foundation and the Toyota USA Foundation for their generous and continuing support of ENLACE,” said Professor Herminio Martinez (Middle & High School Education), executive director of the Bronx Institute. “Their support is critical because multi-year funding is a key to building successful academic enrichment programs.”

ENLACE, which meets year-round at the College and is developed and implemented by Lehman and Bronx Institute faculty, is nationally and internationally known for its innovative curriculum in math and science. The program will serve eighth, ninth, eleventh, twelfth, and college cohorts next school year.
