“Lehman Connect,” launched on April 18, is the Division of Information Technology’s latest Web resource project, designed to make accessing institutional resources and collaborating on projects between departments and offices more efficient.
A Web-based portal for faculty and staff, “Lehman Connect” gives users up-to-date information about the College, news feeds, and events, as well as the option to sign up for alerts when new information is posted. The single sign-on feature allows for one-click access to Webmail and other frequently used Lehman applications.
Departments and committees collaborating on projects are now able to share documents, minutes, and participate in action items in a safe and private environment. Through versioning control, individuals will be able to keep track of documents and ensure that all committee members are working off the same version of files. In addition, via “My Content,” groups can save important documents specific to a project in the Lehman Connect “cloud.”
In announcing the launch, Vice President of Information Technology and CIO Ron Bergmann noted that “Lehman Connect is the product of significant work within the IT Division and the support of many in the Lehman community who participated in focus groups and provided feedback,” and he cited in particular the work of the Web Services, IT Systems, and Applications teams. “We hope that Lehman Connect allows you to work and collaborate in ways that enhance teaching, learning, and research. We will continue to make improvements, and we look forward to your feedback.”
Other useful features in the new portal include a Wiki-like knowledge base that can be used to collect, organize, share, and search information. Users also will find a variety of tools and links to Library resources, Institutional Research data, the Teaching and Learning Commons, Blackboard, Research and Sponsored Programs, and HR forms, among others.
