CUNYfirst is scheduled to “go live” at Lehman in early April for both Summer and Fall 2012 registration.
In preparation for the launch, Lehman staff members have been diligently working on configuring the system for Lehman use, including increased security and improved “self-help” features.
“The issues that delayed the November launch are being corrected,” says Lehman’s CUNYfirst Project Manager Jay Mercado. “The conversion of Lehman data from SIMS to CUNYfirst has been vastly improved, and we will survey faculty and staff to assess employee functions and assign appropriate security and training.”
CUNYfirst, which stands for “Fully Integrated Resources and Services Tool,” will streamline online tasks such as paying bills, entering grades, and registering for classes. Four other institutions—CUNY Law School, Bronx Community College, Hostos Community College, and the new community college—are also scheduled to implement the system this spring.
- Faculty and staff should be able to use CUNYfirst as early as April. To access the system, users must claim their accounts (http://www.lehman.edu/cunyfirst/claiming-your-account.php#claiming). Training for faculty and staff is scheduled to begin in February. A “sandbox” (or test environment) will be made available for hands-on training.
- Lehman students should be able to claim their CUNYfirst accounts in early April, in time for summer registration. The system will provide University-wide access to student records and enable students to view financial information, adjust class schedules, and view open courses.
- A walk-in CUNYfirst Support Center is planned to open in late March in the East Dining Room to help Lehman faculty, staff, and students with all aspects of the CUNYfirst system, from claiming their accounts to troubleshooting registration issues. Lehman student helpers, as well as staff from I.T. and other administrative offices, will be on hand at the center.
